13-10-23: Visit to Yorkshire Air Museum & Memorial
Shed members, with the benefit of a mini-bus from Ilkley Community Transport, were able to step a little further afield to Elvington, east of York, and the location of the Yorkshire Air Museum.
We were met by two very informed and helpful guides, and after some lunch in the NAAFI canteen, they provided us with a very informative tour of their collection of historical aircraft, vehicles, munitions, memorabilia, and of course the memorial collections in memory of the RAF and Canadian bomber squadrons who were based at Elvington airfield and served during the early 1940's.
