WHO WE ARE...

Burley Men's Shed is a registered charity and is a Social Shed, it does not have Workshop facilities.

Instead, we maintain a s
harp focus on Well-being, by enabling social connections, friendship building, and the sharing of knowledge, skills and experiences through conversation, as well as the banter and fun!

Being a part of this can help to reduce loneliness and isolation, bringing about benefits to both physical and mental health, together with a sense of renewed purpose and belonging. The majority or our members/attendees are over retirement age.

There is a different theme/activity at each meeting, but the essence of our Shed is the making of social connections. There is also opportunity each month to get out and about on trips to interesting places.

We have an open-door presence in the local community, and you will find us to be a friendly and inclusive group, where you can just come along and see your mates!

Simply drop by, enjoy a chat, tea or coffee, and in our case, some bacon butties!

WHAT WE PROVIDE...
  • Friendly place to drop-in, for tea, coffee & bacon butties!
  • Sharing our knowledge and skills to the benefit of others
  • Opportunities for social contact and making friends
  • Trips and visits to local places, and further afield
  • Interesting talks, demonstrations, slide shows
  • Opportunities to volunteer in village activities
  • Caring presence in the wider community
  • Exercise, local walks

We benefit from being an Incorporated Charity with an adopted constitution, and a growing number of regular Members, but only together are we able to maintain a useful presence within the Village community.

BMS is membership led, with the following currently appointed as Trustees to manage the day-to-day business and future direction of the Shed:  Duncan Ault, Robin Dearing, Steven Jolly, Jack Robertshaw, Duncan Starkey
FUTURE PLANS
We are working with other local Sheds, who have plans to develop new Workshop facilities, and for our members to make use of those facilities when they become available
Further information here: WMS plans will benefit local groups

We Always Provide a Warm Welcome to New Members

If you would like to join us, just drop by!
We're at the Bowls Club Pavilion in Grange Park, Burley in Wharfedale on the First and Third Wednesday of each month, between 10am – 12pm
Or ring Robin on 07712 471729
