24-09-2025: Visit - Away day to Ripon Part One - Ripon Men's Shed
At the kind invitation of Ripon Men's Shed, our members travelled to Ripon to visit their shed.
On arrival we were greeted by Shed Manager Barry Sutton who introduced us to their members who were all very busy transforming their newly acquired larger premisses into a new workshop space and meeting areas.
We were all made very welcome by their members with many discussions taking place about their fund raising events and plans for the future. Following our trip they kindly mentioned our visit on their Facebook page:-
"Today we were delighted to receive a visit from 8 members of Burley-in-Wharfedale Shed. Despite the organised chaos that presently passes for our premises, we think they found the visit interesting and it again reminded us all of the varied nature of UK Sheds and how they function. Burley Shed does not presently have access to a workshop, but has a thriving wellbeing and social based membership. Judging by the constant chatter around the table at tea-time, lots of ideas were exchanged and new friends made. Exactly what Sheds are all about.
We look forward to welcoming our new friends again once our development work has been completed".
We would like to thank them for their kind words and for the warm welcome and hospitality we received and look forward to visiting them again when their refurbishment is complete.
The visit to the shed was followed by lunch at the Wakeman Cafe in Ripon.
