05-08-2026: Talk - Saltaire Tunnels Mike & Tish Lawson
For the Burley Men's Shed's first meeting of the month, a good turnout of members were treated to a very interesting and informative talk about the "Saltaire Tunnels" by Mike and Tish Lawson.
Saltaire has hidden underground passages, most notably a historic tunnel beneath Exhibition Road built for the Royal Yorkshire Jubilee Exhibition in 1887, which royalty like Princess Beatrice walked through, as well as a tunnel connecting Salts Mill across Victoria Road.
We would like to say a big thank you to Mike and Tish for coming to the Shed and giving members a very interesting talk.
