19-03-2025: Honshu for Beginners
Shed members were treated to an illustrative, informative and enjoyable talk by Peter Jenkins about a touring holiday he and his wife spent on the island of Honshu in Japan in the Autumn of 2022.
Honshu (pronounced 'hon-shoe') is 88,000 square miles (228,000km), with a population of around 104 million, accounting for more than 80% of the total population of Japan. It's split into five regions (from the northeast to southwest): Tohoku, Chubu, Kanto, Kansai (also known as Kinki), and Chugoku. therealjapan.com/honshu
Peter talked about their experiences and the route they took starting in Tokyo and travelling to Kanazawa, Kiso Fukushima, Kyoto and completing their journey at Hakone.
