15-07-2026: Talk - Stephen Waterhouse, Author, Illustrator & Educator
Burley Men's Shed was pleased to welcome Stephen Waterhouse, who is local to Burley in Wharfedale, and presented to us his love of drawing and painting, and how he became an illustrator and author by creating colourful characters and illustrations for children's books, advent calendars, jigsaws, packaging, greetings cards, posters and magazines.
Stephen told us about what inspired him when he was very young and how he started to create his own characters and stories at an early age. He described the detailed process of how he makes a book from start to finish, and showed us many of his original drawings and artwork.
Members commented that it was very interesting to have gained such an insight in to an Artists career, and how techniques and technology have brought about changes over the years.
