28-10-25: Mental Health & Wellbeing
This, our second Men's Health Awareness event, was held in Salem Church Hall, Burley in Wharfedale, and was a joint initiative between Grange Park Surgery, Burley Men’s Shed (BMS) and Wharfedale Men's Shed, Otley (WMS).
The emphasis of the Event was on Prevention and Early Intervention, recognising life events, and symptoms or changes which have not been normal for you.
Talks were given by Dr Lincoln Jowett, managing partner at Grange Park Surgery, Jenn Ward, Social Prescriber for the Wharfedale-Airedale-Craven Alliance (WACA), and Mark Willis, a leading presenter with experience in briefing for the mental health charity MIND.
With each speakers’ detailed knowledge and extensive experience of the subject matter in many different situations, the event provided some really practical takeaways, enabling those attending to be more aware of what to look out for when considering their own mental health & wellbeing, and of those others who they may know.
Useful and informative materials, together with signposting to helpful support was also made available, and is included below.
Working together, BMS & WMS plan to deliver further Men's Health Awareness events to cover such subjects as Heart, Lungs, and Stroke.
